Add a peripheral device to your Azumuta workspace

Updated

This article explains how to add a peripheral device to your Azumuta workspace. Before introducing you to the steps of doing so, please ensure that you already have the following:

  • The peripheral device that you wish to integrate.
  • A computer/Windows tablet that is logged in to your Azumuta workspace.
  • A hub plugin for your computer's operating system. Download it from Management → Peripherals → Hubs. If the hub plugin doesn't support your device, contact us at support@azumuta.com to find out how your device can be integrated.

If you have all 3, you can add the peripheral device to your Azumuta workspace in 3 steps.

The examples in this article use the integration of a temperature gun into an Azumuta workspace.

Connect the peripheral device to your computer

Connect the peripheral device to your computer/Windows tablet. Different devices connect in different ways; common methods include:

  • Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth
  • RFID

Check your peripheral device’s manual/guidebook for its preferred connection method.

Note: Keep the peripheral device connected to your computer/Windows tablet throughout the steps below.

Add the peripheral device to your workspace

Once the device is connected, add it to your Azumuta workspace:

  1. Click Peripherals under Management.
  2. Click the yellow plus button.
  3. Type in the new peripheral device’s name.
  4. Select one of the existing peripheral groups or create a new peripheral group.
  5. Select the product check type that will use this peripheral device. This peripheral device can only be used on this particular product check type.
  6. Select the hub plugin that you downloaded earlier.
  7. Input the configuration fields. The contents of these fields are based on the plugin.
  8. Type in additional notes (if needed) – it will appear on your list of peripheral devices.
  9. Once you’re done, click Add.

Enable the peripheral device on a device

Finally, enable the peripheral device on the computer (desktop or laptop) or Windows tablet where you want to use it. Peripheral devices can’t be used on iOS/Android tablets or smartphones.

  1. Click Devices under Management.
  2. Click the (three-dot) icon next to the device where you would like to enable the peripheral device on.
  3. Click Edit device.
  4. Click the Peripherals tab.
  5. Click the dropdown menu under Peripherals for instruction checks.
  6. Select the peripheral device that you would like to enable on this device. You can select multiple peripheral devices here.
  7. Once you’re done, click Save.

Note: These steps add 1 peripheral device. To integrate 10 peripheral devices (even identical ones), repeat all the steps 10 times.
